Uświęcenie księżyca (Kidusz Lewana) to modlitwa, którą odmawia się raz w miesiącu, nocą, jeśli widoczny jest wrastający księżyc. W księżycowo słonecznym kalendarzu żydowskim miesiące wyznacza cykl księżyca. Modlitwa ta jest najczęściej odmawiana po zakończeniu Szabatu i po Hawdali, stąd na obrazie znajdują się pojemniki na wonności, używane podczas Hawdali, które tutaj symbolizują miasto nocą.

Sanctification of the Moon (Kiddush Levanah) is a prayer said when the new moon is visible. It is preferable that Kiddush Levanah is recited at the departure of the Shabbat. The boxes with the fragrant spices are used during Havdalah ceremony (marking the end of the Shabbat), here they form “Jewish town” in the night.
